Silverplated cup - German, Art Nouveau design
This graceful cup was made by WMF, a company that began in Germany in 1880. They produced numerous silver pieces in their own designs, many in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. This well-preserved cup has no dents; it measures 2 and 1/2 inches high, with the rim diameter also 2 and 1/2 inches. Very few tiny areas of discoloration where the plate is worn. Lovely decorated sterling silver low compote with two handles. Heavily decorated around rim and inside shallow bowl; has beautifully fashioned open-work handles.
