Rare Hartland Dick Groat Pittsburg Pirates Original 1958-1962 Statue. Only a limited number of Groat statues were issued as he was the last of the 18 Original Players and when Hartland was bought in 1963 they discontinued all production which left Groat with limited numbers sold.
Statue is in excellent condition with good color on the sleeves, numbers and Pirates logo. Color of staute is cream to light yellow.
To quote another seller: "While model designs had been approved for statues of Jim Gentile and Casey Stengel, the 1963 sale of Hartland Plastics to Revlon, Inc. brought the production of anything but the company's cosmetic cases to a screeching halt. This left Dick Groat as the final release for the line, and since he only experienced a couple of production seasons on the sales shelves, it is easy to understand why he remains the hardest to locate. He is both the key to the set and one of the nicest portrait treatments that Hartland ever issued."
