Item Description:
Very rare, high quality Bohemian or Czech necklace of the Transitional Period between Art Nouveau and Art Deco in the area known as Bohemia prior to the end of WWI which later became Czechoslovakia. Rich, grapey, heavy, amethyst faceted glass beads combine with substantial brass filigree work that is double-faced so that the filigree work shows from either side and the unique ornamental style of the Transitional Period are the hallmarks of this incredible vintage necklace. The necklace measures approximately 29" with a 4-3/4" central Fleur d'Lis filigree drop ornamented with bezel set amethyst glass cabochons. The Fleur d'Lis is double-faced so that it shows the same from either side. This stunningly beautiful necklace dates to the early part of the 20th Century, prior to WWI, Ca. 1910. It is in Very Good Condition as the brass filigree is impeccable, but there are numerous nicks at the edges of the facets of the beads. Still, for lovers of quality vintage, this rare and uncommonly found example of a short-lived era nearly 100 years ago, is a necklace that will take your heart away.
