George van der Straeten Bronze Bust Young Lady

A superb Bronze Statue of a Young Lady by Georges Van der Straeten.  Signed by Van der Straeten and stamped “Société des Bronzes de Paris”.  Marked P 4149 above seal.  This stunning art nouveau bronze by Belgian sculptor George Van Der Straeten (1856-1928)

This piece weighs approximately 15 pounds and has exquisite detail, which indicates that it was one of the early casts from this mold. 

As you can see the appraiser gave it a retail value of $3000.  We are selling it here for $2250, and to our knowledge no other bronze statues of this young lady are available on the web.

Appraiser Comments:

"According to the information research, the sculptor would have been Georges van der Straeten (Belgium 1856 - 1928),  There have been 39 examples of his sculptures that sold at auction from a low of $375 for smaller figures  to a high of $4700."

Replacement Costs (Retail):                       $3,000.
