Bloodstone Beaded Necklace

This is a vintage strand of bloodstone beads 32" single strand and each bead measures about 1/2". The beads are not round but flat on two sides making them a 1/4" thick circle. Each bead is accented with a small goldtone bead. Barrel clasp on the back. This could be worn as is, doubled or use the beads to redesign your own creation !

Bloodstone is acutally polished quartz or chalcedony  that has unexplained red spots in the stones. Some believe they are caused by traces of iron oxides. In the Middle Ages, bloodstone was throught to hold drops of Christ's blood and to be all-powerful.
